POMONA – State Representative Paul Jacobs (R-Pomona) says Illinoisans that purchase trailer license plate sticker renewals will see a significant reduction when the calendar changes to 2022 on January 1. Jacobs says the trailer licensing fee will be reduced from $118 to $36 in the new year.
“A drafting error in legislation passed in 2019 caused thousands of Illinois motorists to pay a significantly higher amount to renew their trailer license plate sticker,” Jacobs said. “In 2022, the fee will be reduced $118 down to $36. This change will help hard working families that are currently struggling with inflation and higher gas prices. Every bit helps. I am hopeful that the new year will bring with it a willingness by the legislature to take further steps to reduce the burden of rising prices for working families and folks living on fixed incomes when we return to Springfield on January 4th.”
