Rep. Jacobs Announces Library Grants for 118th District

POMONA – 118th district State Representative Paul Jacobs (R-Pomona) says entities in the 118th district are set to receive library grant funds from the Illinois Secretary of State’s office.

“I’m pleased to be able to report to my constituents that grant funds are coming to several communities to support our libraries,” Jacobs said. “From a $50,000 grant for the Anna Veterans’ Home to support various community literacy and technology improvements, we are moving forward investing in our libraries and the services they provide to my constituents. I’m grateful to the Secretary of State’s Office for choosing entities serving the citizens of my district.”

The grant funds total more than $215,000. As Rep. Jacobs mentioned, a $50,000 grant will go to the Illinois Veterans’ Home in Anna to support library services. Also receiving funding through the Library Services and Technology Project Next Generation grant program are the city of Anna’s Stinson Memorial Public Library District, which will receive $20,000, $37,810 for the Carbondale Public Library, $15,631 to the Anne West Lindsey District Library in Carterville, and Marion Carnegie Library which will receive $30,666. WSIU Southern Illinois Radio Information Service will receive a $21,353 grant for the improvement of services provided to the blind and physically handicapped. John A Logan College will receive grant funds of $40,090 for their community literacy efforts.
