MARION, IL – State Representative Patrick Windhorst and State Representative Paul Jacobs hosted their annual Summer Reading Club “Night at the Ballpark” on Thursday, July 25 at Mountain Dew Park in Marion for a Thrillville Thrillbillies game. The annual event celebrates the hard work of incoming 1st through 4th grade students for reading 8 books on their summer vacation.
Rep. Windhorst thanked the students and their parents for participating.
“This is an event that seems to get bigger every year, and that is a positive thing for our students,” Rep. Windhorst said. “We are proud to work with the Thrillville Thrillbillies and with our local libraries in partnership to make our summer reading program an ongoing success!”
Rep. Paul Jacobs echoed Rep. Windhorst’s sentiments.
”We are always thrilled to meet with these students and their parents and to provide a couple of baseball game tickets to watch our hometown Thrillbillies take on the competition,” Jacobs said. “I’ve been impressed each year with the growth of the program and the professional relationship we have developed with the Thrillbillies organization. They do a great job putting a good team on the field and providing a quality entertainment product for the people of Southern Illinois!”
