It was a very busy week with committee hears, session, and a great number of visitors from my district and around the state. I enjoyed visiting with the 8th Grade students from Grand Tower!

I met the TASC, Inc. (Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities) delegation this week when they were at the Capitol to advocate for support of their program that is nearly four decades old now. Their moto is: Rebuilding lives. Strengthening communities. Restoring hope.

It was good to meet and visit with the delegation from the Electric Co-Op on their Lobby Day. Here we are outside the House Chambers with State Rep. David Friess (115th District).

As a member of the Appropriations – Higher Education Committee, I meet with many educators and leaders to learn about their programs and needs. This week I was visited by a delegation from Chicago Statue University. Chicago State University includes an honors program for undergraduates and offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the arts and sciences. CSU was founded in 1867 as the Cook County Normal School, an innovative teacher’s college.
