Madigan Resigns, Rep. Jacobs Reacts

SPRINGFIELD – 115th District State Representative Paul Jacobs (R-Pomona) issued the following statement in response to Mike Madigan’s resignation from the Illinois legislature.

“Today is a historic day in the State of Illinois. I am happy to be a member of the legislature on the day Mike Madigan resigns from office. Mike Madigan’s 50-year reign in Springfield may be ending, but the economic damage his policies have caused for the State of Illinois will last for years to come.

Speaker Madigan’s record as he leaves office goes like this: $5 billion in unpaid bills, a $1.6 billion budget deficit, upwards of $150 billion in pension debt, no ethics reforms, and a cloud of corruption that has ensnared democratic politicians in the House and Senate.

The people of Illinois are better off because Mike Madigan will be leaving the legislature. I honestly wish was that he was leaving today instead of at the end of the month. Thankfully we will be turning the page on the Mike Madigan era in the House of Representatives.”
