CARBONDALE, IL – State Rep. Paul Jacobs (R-Pomona) is reporting another successful senior citizens health and wellness fair took place at the Carbondale Civic Center earlier this week. Rep. Jacobs, who is also a practicing optometrist, says more than 130 seniors and 50 health care and senior citizen service providers were on hand for the event.
“Every year, this event gets bigger and better,” Jacobs said. “That is a testament to the vendors that work tirelessly to provide top-notch health care and senior citizen services to the residents of Southern Illinois. The healthcare community is vibrant and effective, and I couldn’t be more proud of the work that they do to improve healthcare outcomes for our seniors.”
Jacobs partnered with Senator Dale Fowler to host the annual event. Seniors were treated to free refreshments, door prizes, and free health care screenings including blood pressure, blood glucose and cholesterol screenings, and free flu shots. Jacobs says he looks forward to next year’s Carbondale Senior Fair.
“We’ll see everyone next year, with a bigger, better event, more services, and more information. Thank you, Carbondale!”
