Rep. Jacobs Opposes Move to Impose Regulations on Homeschool Families

MARION, IL… State Representative Paul Jacobs (R-Pomona) is making it very clear that he strongly opposes House Bill 2827 that has been filed that would drastically regulate Illinois’ home school families. Dr. Jacobs explains that the bill places new cumbersome regulations on families who choose to educate their children in a system that has very high success rates and college admissions success.

“We have enough problems in our state that need addressing and the homeschooling families are not one of them,” declared Jacobs. “Families who have chosen to use the flexibility of the homeschool program should not be attacked by the establishment who want to make it so regulated that they throw up their hands and just send their kids to public schools in the end.”

Jacobs points out that the recent report on the failure of public schools to teach our children and grandchildren the basics of reading and math should be evidence enough that the state should stay out of regulating families even more.

“We need to be moving in the opposite direction of this bad legislation,” added Jacobs. “Reducing the number of mandates on teachers and schools should be our first priority, not attacking families.”

Jacobs is encouraging constituents to express their opposition to HB 2827 by signing his online petition to preserve homeschool freedom at this link: https://www.ilhousegop.org/jacobs_homeschool_petition.
