Voting is now open in the 6th Annual ‘Makers Madness’ competition to name the Coolest Thing Made in Illinois!
It is reported that more than 250 Illinois-made products were nominated for the contest, including energy storage equipment, life-saving medical products, electric vehicles, components for space exploration and sweet treats.
“I encourage everyone to help promote our local Illinois products and the companies that make them. They help our local economy by creating jobs for our residents,” commented Rep. Paul Jacobs.

The products nominated in this year’s contest represent the wide diversity of our state’s dynamic manufacturing industry, which anchors our economy and drives our communities forward,” said Mark Denzler, President and CEO of the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association. “We wish all of the manufacturers nominated the best of luck and extend a special appreciation to the women and men on shop floors across Illinois who make these incredible products.”
Voting takes place online, allowing the public to vote up to five times a day for the top 16 products. Voting ends March 16, and results will be announced March 18.
Following the top 16 results, a bracket-style tournament begins with head-to-head matchups taking place each week until April 6.
The awards ceremony is set for April 9 at the Governor’s mansion, where The Coolest Thing Made in Illinois will officially be named.
